blue undercoat

italy

January 27, 2012. Not sure I like this one, but I'm just trying some different things with color. I'd never thought to do an undercoat before, but did it with this one. Also trying different things with the sky- using a dryer brush. Anyway, it's fun to experiment.

Wow! I'm very impressed with the new look Rob... as the saying goes... if the shoe fits, wear it...
Best Wishes.

Well, I'm just giving this a shot. I thought maybe people might like this, as it makes it easier to navigate through months of drawings if they so desire. Take care, Keith.

I love the sky, but I somehow feel the painting style of the sky and buildings don't fit.

Thank you, Rene- I enjoy constructive critique, and I see now your point. There are many things wrong with this one, and I think you've hit on an important one. The other thing I don't like about it is how the towers are scrunched in the middle of the drawing. The composition is upsetting to me. And, I could go on- but, it's all a learning process. Every drawing is an exercise. I must say, I find it easier finding things to draw in the outdoors in real places, looking for compositions around you.

I also love the sky. Perhaps there is something weird about the towers but sky and buildings seem fit to me. It reminds me of some comic drawings.

Thanks for sharing your drawings.
